Brighton Festival Chorus: St John Passion

Mon 04 May 2026, 7:30pm - 10:00pm

Concert Hall, Brighton Dome, Church Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 1UD

Join Brighton Festival Chorus and Britten Sinfonia for Bach's sacred oratorio

Our friends and RPS Corporate Members, Brighton Festival Chorus are joined by Britten Sinfonia with conductor James Morgan, an international cast of young soloists from William Christie’s Les Arts Florissants and Le Jardin des Voix, and Brighton Festival Youth Choir.

In this bold, contemporary staging of Bach’s St John Passion, the story of life, death and resurrection is given extra immediacy and clarity by being sung in English. Moving through the space to dissolve boundaries between performers and audience, the choir will be joined by community choirs and audience members in the chorales, and there will be an opportunity to attend a preparatory workshop so as to open up the music and storytelling to everyone.

Soloists:

Evangelist: Nick Pritchard
Christ: Benjamin Schilperoort
Pilate: Edward Grint
Soprano: Lauren Lodge Cambell
Alto: Helen Charlston
Tenor: Bastien Rimondi
Bass: Olivier Bergeron
