CBSO in the City

Thu 27 Aug 2026 - Mon 31 Aug 2026, 11:30am - 4:00pm

Various locations around Birmingham

City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra take over Birmingham's trams, shopping centres, station and public spaces with free performances.

This Summer, our friends and RPS Corporate Members City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra are taking the taking the orchestra out of the concert hall and filling the city with music.

From Thursday 27 to Monday 31 August, CBSO in the City returns for its third year. They'll be popping up in unexpected places, performing for free to tens of thousands of residents across Birmingham, bringing live music to trams, shopping centres, stations and public spaces.

Performances range from brass ensembles at Touchwood Solihull and family fun at the Library of Birmingham, to live music for passengers on the CBSO tram with RPS Award-winning Music Director Kazuki Yamada, string quartets at The Exchange, and even a community operatic performance through Digbeth, presented alongside Infinite Opera and Grand Union.

They'll also be back at Birmingham New Street and Bullring, performing as part of Birmingham Weekender – a free three-day festival which will span across the city with colourful installations, exhilarating performances and experiences from Saturday 29 August to Monday 31 August.

Throughout the week, everyone who experiences a CBSO performance will be able to pick up a golden ticket, which means that for just £1, they will be able to book a CBSO concert during its 2026-27 Season!

You can find out more about where to catch them throughout the week via the link below.
