Clorinda Agonistes – Sadler's Wells

Fri 09 Sep 2022 - Sat 10 Sep 2022, 7:30pm - 8:30pm

Sadler’s Wells, London

A major new dance work comes to London, with support from the RPS Drummond Fund which annually brings together composers and choreographers to create exciting new work.

The celebrated Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom joins forces with the acclaimed Shobana Jeyasingh Dance for a new work inspired by the Saracen female warrior Clorinda, protagonist of Monteverdi’s Il Combattimento, also newly choreographed in this production. Following its world premiere at The Grange Festival in July, this promises to be one of the hot tickets in dance this Autumn. It also features solo tenor Ed Lyon onstage among the dancers, and musicians conducted by I Fagiolini’s Robert Hollingworth.

The RPS Drummond Fund was established in 2007 in memory of the writer, broadcaster and lifelong dance aficionado Sir John Drummond CBE. In the years since, it has supported a range of collaborations between composers and choreographers, as detailed here on our website.
