Exclusive RPS Circle Event

Tue 07 Jul 2026, 6:00pm - 7:45pm

Steinway Hall, 44 Marylebone Lane, London W1U 2DB

From time to time, we organise a unique and intimate occasion principally for individuals supporting the charity as part of our RPS Circle, and other significant donors.

We are pleased to share details of this year’s event here. If you are interested to attend, we would be so pleased to talk to you about supporting the charity and how, with occasions like this, you can feel a valued part of the Royal Philharmonic Society.

As classical music lovers, we all know the name ‘Steinway’ and that its fine pianos grace the greatest concert stages internationally. Yet for something so familiar and treasured, how many of us know its story? We are grateful to our friends at Steinway for hosting this year’s event at Steinway Hall in central London: a truly unique and fascinating musical treasure trove. There will be sparkling drinks on arrival from the award-winning Hattingley Valley vineyard in Hampshire. Then, Steinway’s Director of Concert and Artist Services, Ulrich Gerhartz – valued friend and support to the world’s greatest pianists – will take us into the Hall’s workshops, and share up-close what makes a Steinway piano, demonstrating several instruments’ individual characters, and revealing the particular touch and tones that star artists seek in them. Joining us will be RPS Award-shortlisted pianist Nicholas McCarthy who will play several of the instruments for us, and share more of his own remarkable lifelong relationship with the piano. Among our guests will be other well-known musicians from the RPS Awards and beyond, and a host of friends and close industry contacts worth meeting. The event ends by 7.45pm, leaving you time to make dinner plans after that.

Invitations to RPS Circle Members and other guests have been dispatched. If you are interested to attend this event and are not yet a supporter of the charity, please get in touch and we can tell you more.
