A visionary performer devoted to new repertoire, mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean is forging a unique path as one of the UK’s most sought-after collaborators. Her father, leading composer and viola player Brett Dean, took the musical world by storm with his groundbreaking opera Hamlet, and his new song cycle debuts at the BBC Proms this Summer. Lotte and Brett are newly working together on his latest opera Of One Blood for the Bayerische Staatsoper, which receives its UK premiere at Garsington Opera in 2028.

These exceptional artists join author and broadcaster Hannah French for a wide-ranging conversation about their musical lives. Together, they will discuss their inspirations and how their work is increasingly bringing them together creatively. We invite you to join us for what is sure to be a fascinating and revealing event, including a performance of Brett’s I Starred Last Night, I Shone, for mezzo soprano and viola.
