Florence Anna Maunders - RPS Composer Premiere

Sat 15 Apr 2023, 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Wigmore Hall, London

Florence Anna Maunders is one of the composers we are charitably supporting as they embark on their career, and this is the first chance to hear the work she has especially written with RPS support.

Florence's composition is influenced by a variety of styles, including jazz, medieval music, EDM, and the music of the Middle East. She is interested in exploring and developing the ways in which acoustic instruments can recreate the timbres of electronic instruments, and is undertaking a PhD at Cardiff University. You can read more about Florence on our website here.

Florence is one of eight individuals we are supporting on the current RPS Composers programme, giving each a commission and premiere with a noted ensemble, festival or venue, as well as a year of professional development, giving them the chance to meet industry experts and professional composers, furthering their confidence and skills to seek further commissions and premieres of their own. The RPS Composers programme is made possible by a range of trusts and foundations, and through the kind support of RPS Members.

You can find out more about RPS Membership and how you can help us support talented musicians like Florence here.

Florence is writing for Wigmore Hall as the Rosie Johnson Wigmore Hall Learning Composer. Her piece 'Reef' will be premiered by the Royal Academy of Music / Wigmore Hall Fellowship Ensemble, the Kyan Quartet.
