Violinist Fenella Humphreys will perform Michael Small's "White Space" for solo violin at Liverpool University as part of their Lunchtime Concert Series. "White Space", commissioned as part of the RPS Composition Prize in 2014 by Royal Philharmonic Society and Presteigne Festival, was premiered by Fenella Humphreys at the festival on 29 August 2015.
was born in 1988, and studied composition with David Horne as an undergraduate at the Royal Northern College of Music between 2007 and 2011, where he received a First Class BMus Hons. During his time there he wrote for several festivals and participated in masterclasses with Rolf Hind, Simon Bainbridge, Graham Fitkin, Christopher Rouse, H.K. Gruber and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.
With playing described in the press as ‘alluring’, ‘unforgettable’ and ‘a wonder’, Fenella Humphreys has broadcast for the BBC, Classic FM, DeutschlandRadio Berlin, West-Deutsche-Rundfunk, ABC Classic FM (Australia) and Korean radio. Fenella is Concertmaster of the Deutsche Kammerakademie.
The concert programme will include works by Kreisler, Michael Small, Bach and Ysaye.
