Music of Today returns with a programme devoted to the French-Canadian composer, Claude Vivier
, one of the leading exponents of Spectral Music.
Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the death of Claude Vivier, who was murdered at age 34, with performances of two of his major works. This visionary Franco-Canadian composer left a fascinating collection of music which has ensured his permanently growing reputation. Vivier absorbed influences as diverse as Asian traditional music, Stockhausen and plainchant; his music ritualistic, hypnotic, hovering and hallucinatory, charged with emotion and seductively colourful.
