Mon 28 Oct 2024, 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Wigmore Hall

Philip Dutton, one of the composers from the 2023 RPS Composers programme, is writing a new work for ORA Singers. Hear its first performance at Wigmore Hall.

Philip is a British-Czech composer based in London. His music expresses his love of storytelling and curiosity in a way that’s vivid and direct. Philip often draws upon his cultural heritage and past experiences for inspiration, and his musical influences include Boulez, Ives, Janáček, Lutosławski, Messiaen and Xenakis. You can read more about Philip and his work on our website here.

Philip is writing a piece for ORA Singers, who make their Wigmore Hall debut with a Shakespeare-inspired programme of music from the 16th-century to the present day.

Philip is one of seven individuals we have supported through the 2023 RPS Composers programme, giving each a commission and premiere with a noted ensemble, festival or venue, as well as a year of professional development which gives them the chance to meet industry experts and professional composers, furthering their confidence and skills to seek further commissions and premieres of their own. The RPS Composers programme is made possible by a range of trusts and foundations, and through the kind support of RPS Members.
