Sarah Frances Jenkins - RPS Composer Premiere

Wed 24 Jul 2024, 7:00pm - 9:30pm

Castle Howard, York

The first chance to hear a new work written during the RPS Composers programme by Sarah Frances Jenkins, performed by The Marian Consort at Ryedale Festival.

Vividly influenced by the natural world, Sarah is driven to create striking, atmospheric and immersive sound worlds that ebb, flow and mutate. She writes music that speaks to people both inside and outside of the concert hall, striving to use the different facets of her musical identity as a composer and clarinettist to nurture meaningful connections and collaborations, and to communicate with as wide a range of people as possible. You can read more about Sarah and her work on our website here.

Sarah is writing a piece inspired by the pre-Raphaelite designs of Castle Howard's chapel, to be performed by The Marian Consort in a concert also featuring music by Weelkes, Byrd, and recent RPS Award-winner Laurence Osborn. Click below for more information about booking.

Sarah is one of seven individuals we are supporting with the 2024 RPS Composers programme, giving each a commission and premiere with a noted ensemble, festival or venue, as well as a year of professional development which gives them the chance to meet industry experts and professional composers, furthering their confidence and skills to seek further commissions and premieres of their own. The RPS Composers programme is made possible by a range of trusts and foundations, and through the kind support of RPS Members.
