Phillip Neil Martin An Outburst of Time Victor Ibarra Crossing Lines [International Composer Pyramid winner] Brian Ferneyhough Exordium Paul Max Edlin Frida Sketches [WORLD PREMIERE] Thomas Adès Arcadiana Robert Saxton Quartet No. 3 Duration: 1hr 40 minutes (including interval) Founded in 1974 by the violinist Irvine Arditti, the Arditti Quartet are responsible for the commission of several hundred contemporary string quartets and other chamber works, including compositions by Andriessen, Cage, Birtwistle, Britten, Ferneyhough, Dillon, Harvey, Ligeti, Kagel, Xenakis and Stockhausen. These works have left a permanent mark on 20th century repertoire and have given the Arditti Quartet a firm place in music history. This concert will be recorded and broadcast by BBC Radio 3.
