Ensemble Renard
RPS Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award | £5,000
London-based wind quintet Ensemble Renard have quickly emerged as one of the UK's most exciting young chamber ensembles. With a focus on curating compelling and contrasting programmes comprising works past and present, each performance they give demonstrates the kaleidoscopic versatility of the wind quintet.
After completing a Chamber Music Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, Ensemble Renard have continued to perform across the country, making appearances at the Aldeburgh Festival, Stoller Hall, Folkestone New Music and Llanfyllin Music Festival.
A core aspect of Ensemble Renard’s work is championing new music, and as such they regularly commission and premiere new works. In 2023, they recorded their debut album In the Room, comprising commissions by Stomping Ground Collective, available on streaming platforms.
Each member of Ensemble Renard brings with them a wealth of experience performing with world class ensembles and orchestras, and as soloists in their own right. Together, their skill and musicianship as a group has been recognised as Britten Pears Young Artists, Stoller Hall Young Artists, Tunnell Trust awardees, and members of the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme.

'We’re so grateful to have been awarded the RPS Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award. We’re really proud of the ensemble we’ve built and we want to be able to share our work with as diverse an audience base as possible. With the help of this award, we’ll be able to build a catalogue comprising footage of our rehearsals and performances. Once we have this digital material, we hope to be able to approach a more diverse array of venues in order to showcase this strand of our work. We’ll be able to update our website and our social media platforms in order for our work to become more accessible and easier to engage with.
We’ve spent the last year thinking carefully about what we want our performances to look like, and with the help of the Royal Philharmonic Society, we’ll be able to implement our ideas in order to make every aspect of an Ensemble Renard performance unique. We’re so excited about our musical plans for the year ahead, and with the help of the RPS we’ll be able to share our work with more people than ever.'
