Cathy Hare joined the Royal Philharmonic Society as Programme Manager in July 2024. Prior to this, Cathy combined a busy career as a freelance flautist with the role of Philanthropy Manager at English National Opera. She loves drawing on her extensive experience as a professional musician to inform her work off the stage.
Cathy studied at Royal College of Music and has since performed across the UK and further afield, including at the BBC Proms and Berlin Konzerthaus – and on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! She is a former member of Southbank Sinfonia and was an Associate of the London Philharmonic Orchestra Foyle Future Firsts programme. Committed to widening access to classical music, Cathy has worked as a workshop leader for a variety of organisations, including Live Music Now, Spitalfields Music and BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Always up for a challenge, Cathy’s latest goal is to complete Ironman Wales in 2025. Considered one of the world’s most gruelling endurance events, she will be swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles, then completing a marathon – all in one go!
