Tung Auditorium, Liverpool
Amy Bryce has written 'Mimic' for the Solem Quartet, as part of their place on the RPS Composers programme. This is the first chance to hear the work they have written, at the Tung Auditorium, Liverpool.
Amy's compositions are defined by interactivity, social commentary, and playfulness. Amy describes their approach to music-making as 'inherently queer', and draws from a wide variety of sonic influences. Amy's manuscripts are often handwritten, semi-graphic, varying in shape, size, and interactive capabilities. You can read more about Amy and their work on our website here.
Amy is one of eight individuals we have supported on the 2023 RPS Composers programme, giving each a commission and premiere with a noted ensemble, festival or venue, as well as a year of professional development, giving them the chance to meet industry experts and professional composers, furthering their confidence and skills to seek further commissions and premieres of their own. The RPS Composers programme is made possible by a range of trusts and foundations, and through the kind support of RPS Members.
You can find out more about RPS Membership and how you can help us support talented musicians like Amy here.
Amy's new work, Mimic, opens this lunchtime recital from the Solem Quartet, resident ensemble at Liverpool's Tung Auditorium. Following Amy's work is an arrangement for string quartet of Nadia Boulanger's Three Pieces, and the concert closes with Debussy's striking Quartet in G minor.
