Join Manchester Camerata and AMC Gospel Choir for the premiere of a new work by Blasio Kavuma, written while taking part in the RPS Composers programme.
Blasio's new work will be premiered by Manchester Camerata and AMC Gospel Choir at an upcoming concert in Manchester Camerata's UNQUIET series. The concert will showcase an array of new music, with a variety of performers involved, including Speakers Corner Quartet and conductor Robert Ames.
Blasio has collaborated with artists from a range of genres, including jungle/EDM, gospel and jazz, as well as hip-hop dance, Black theatre and animation. He aspires to keep working with musicians and artists from diverse mediums, whilst exploring how to unite Afro-diasporic and Western classical musical traditions. You can read more about Blasio and his work on our website here.
Blasio is one of eight individuals we have supported on the 2023 RPS Composers programme, giving each a commission and premiere with a noted ensemble, festival or venue, as well as a year of professional development, giving them the chance to meet industry experts and professional composers, furthering their confidence and skills to seek further commissions and premieres of their own. The RPS Composers programme is made possible by a range of trusts and foundations, and through the kind support of RPS Members.
