A unique opportunity to hear life changing orchestras from the Congo and Brazil perform live in the UK this autumn.

The Royal Philharmonic Society has made a series of grants totalling £47,000 to young composers and performers, underlining the Society’s commitment to encouraging and recognising the next generation of talented young artists.

Inspired by our major commission this year, PULSE, the RPS has joined forces with arts charity IdeasTap in a new initiative which offers five young filmmakers and five composers the chance to create their own short film/music collaborations.

Composer Nicola LeFanu has become the fifth recipient of the RPS Elgar Bursary, created to support the work of mature composers. She will write a new work for the BBC Symphony Orchestra, her first large-scale orchestral commission since 1987.

Martin Campbell-White, responsible for the careers of many of our leading musicians, has become the first artist agent to be made an Honorary Member of the Royal Philharmonic Society.

The celebrated English bass, Sir John Tomlinson CBE, has been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Gold Medal, one of classical music’s highest honours.
