RPS Instrumentalist Prizes 2019: Applications now open

The Royal Philharmonic Society is now welcoming applications to its Instrumentalist Prizes for outstanding soloists and ensembles.

We're offering two prizes of £5,000 to a mixed ensemble and a string quartet, together with professional development opportunities throughout the year. Additionally, we will award two prizes of £2,500 to a violinist and a viola player.

RPS HENDERSON CHAMBER ENSEMBLE AWARD - £5,000

A £5,000 prize open to any UK-based chamber ensemble with 3 - 10 performers, in any combination of string, wind, brass, keyboard or percussion instruments, with the maximum age of 28 for an ensemble player.

RPS ALBERT AND EUGENIE FROST PRIZE - £5,000

A £5,000 prize open to a UK-based string trio or quartet of violin, viola or cello players, with the maximum age of 28 for an ensemble player.

RPS EMILY ANDERSON PRIZE - £2,500

A £2,500 prize to a solo violinist of any nationality based in the UK throughout 2020, aged 28 or under.

RPS ALLIANZ INSTRUMENT PRIZE - £2,500

A £2,500 prize to support performance opportunities and career development for an outstanding solo instrumentalist, aged 28 or under based in the UK throughout 2020, playing an “endangered” classical instrument: bassoon, oboe, French horn, viola, trombone, tuba and double bass. This year's prize will be awarded to a viola player.
