Felicity Cliffe
After studying conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where I was awarded a Master’s degree with Distinction and the Mortimer Furber Prize for Conducting, I now am a freelance conductor based in the UK.
In the 2025-26 season I am working as Co-Artistic Director of the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Training Orchestra and as a conducting teacher for RAF Northolt. I am also continuing my work as Artistic Director of the Amadeus Academy, a residential course with a 30-year legacy, aimed at music students and early-career professionals. Alongside these opportunities, I am looking forward to working with ensembles such as the Southampton University Sinfonietta and Leeds Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra for a side-by-side concert with Opera North.
I have an active interest in engaging with the community, and in the 2024-25 season I worked with Chetham’s School of Music in concerts for families and schools, performing live music alongside film with narration from Linton Stephens. I also conducted the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in performances in schools across Greater Manchester.
In Summer 2025, I was thrilled to conduct the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in a studio concert and recording of Smyth’s Overture and Intermezzo from The Boatswain's Mate and Martinů’s Violin Concerto No.1 with soloist Kryštof Kohout.
