A note from Bridget
As a recipient of the RPS Isserlis Scholarship, I will study intensively with the distinguished French pianist Michel Béroff in Paris. I have worked with Michel since 2025, and his mentorship has become an important part of my artistic development. The scholarship will allow me to study with him more regularly through dedicated periods of work.
I have chosen to study abroad because I believe that developing as an artist requires exposure to different musical traditions, cultures and ways of thinking. My formal training has largely taken place in London, while studying in Paris offers me a different perspective, particularly through Michel’s deep connection to the French pianistic tradition and his extraordinary experience as a performer.
During this period, I hope to deepen my artistic independence, refine my approach to sound, colour and interpretation, and develop repertoire for my forthcoming recitals. With my upcoming recital debut at Wigmore Hall, I want to use this opportunity to develop a stronger and more individual artistic voice, and to bring what I learn into my performances across the UK and internationally.
Biography
Described by the Lucerne Festival as ‘a pianist who does not fit into any mold’, Malaysian pianist Bridget Yee is recognised for performances full of imagination, intensity and emotional depth. Upcoming highlights include her solo recital debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2027, following her recent solo debut at the Lucerne Festival. In 2026, Bridget completed a three-year residency with the Riot Ensemble, supported by the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne. During the residency, she gave the world premiere of Alexander Papp’s Duo Concerto, later broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
As well as the Royal Philharmonic Society Isserlis Scholarship, Bridget is a current recipient of the Rupert Heggs Award, the Hattori Foundation Senior Award and the Derek Butler Munster Trust Award. She is an artist of The Keyboard Trust and the Countess of Munster Trust Recital Scheme, and is supported by the Drake Calleja Trust.
She graduated with First Class Honours from the Royal Academy of Music in 2026, having held the Suresh and Richard McMillan Full Scholarship, and received the Edna Bralesford Piano Prize for achieving the highest undergraduate piano final recital mark. Bridget is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Christopher Elton on a full ABRSM International Scholarship.
